As I was talking to a friend, God put this sweet memory in my mind. At the end of 2016 I went to a Christian conference. At the conference, some friends and I went out for hot chocolate, and there my friend started telling us about The World Race. I remember thinking, “ that is so cool I would love to do something like that.” But I knew that was something I wouldn’t be able to do. I was struggling with depression, and support raising that much money sounded terrifying to me, as well as being gone for 11 months. After that I would see her blog posts, which were always super encouraging and real. As the years went on I did different things like go on a summer mission trip, go on a girls backpacking trip and started going to counseling. Little did I know five years later those big things in my life at the time would lead to an even bigger thing. As God was calling me to go deeper in my faith by going on a summer mission trip and going on a girls backpacking trips, God was starting to prepare me for The World Race and I didn’t even know. This past month has been encouraging and discouraging for me at the same time. Discouraging because at times my faith is about as small as a mustard seed, but encouraging because God continues to remind and show me that He didn’t make a mistake when He called me on this missions trip. This trip is something He has been preparing me for.

Support raising can be very difficult at times but I do love the strengthening of faith that it brings.

“Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, move from here to there and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20

“The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.“ Deuteronomy 31:8

One response to “How did I find out about The World Race?”

  1. I love your post! I have a similar story for how I came to the World Race originally. Thanks for sharing and I will be praying for your mustard seed faith to grow deeper than you ever imagined it could.
